Estates General

Estates General, the congress of France that started in medieval times. It consisted of three estates the clergy, nobility, and the rest of the french (middle and lower class). The estates were classified by social classes. Each was allowed multiple reprasentatives but each with one vote on subjects.
Usually the third estate (middle and lower class) was outvoted by the other two estates so no one in the lower classes could get what they wanted politically.
